But winning if it’s pass/fail

I forced a flow state this week.

Writing time has been sliced as thin as garlic in a mafia movie lately and out of fear of having nothing to say here, I manufactured time to keep working on my dialog drill.

I closed my eyes on a commute home and listened to the same song 11 times in a row like a psycho, not daring to distract myself by skipping around for another as I focused on what each of my 10 characters could say to accidentally show a reader who they are. Between that and a few other scrap minutes, I got about 6 done. Not done perfectly, but well enough that I’m giving myself partial credit. D+ is still passing.

I didn’t let myself agonize over the lines, trying to shove them into spaces I’ve already created. I let them be fresh starts. Maybe a start towards a better grade next week.
